Emil Socha (1927-2013)

Emil Socha a lifetime resident of Garfield, passed into life eternal on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the age of 85. Prior to his retirement in 1984, he worked in the shipping department of Continental Can Company in Passaic for 31 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict, receiving the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, and was a life member of the Garfield V.F.W. Benda-Roerich Post 2867. He was a lifetime member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garfield, a member of the national A.A.R.P., an avid Yankee baseball fan, and was inducted into the Garfield Baseball Hall of Fame. Emil was the devoted son of the late Andrew and Anna (nee Luckach) Socha, dear brother of John Socha of Garfield, and the late Andrew Socha, Johanna Molchon, and Helen Gavlak. Emil is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service Tuesday, 10 AM, at the Kamienski Funeral Home, 207 Ray Street, Garfield, officiant Rev. Janet Blair. Interment Lodi Cemetery in Lodi. Visiting Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
